Day 17 & 18

 Day 17

5 km

I had some running around to do and decided to take a walk in a park in one of the towns I visited.  It was cold and windy again and I really had to use the bathroom so I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked.  I watched a cute duck couple for a minute as they swam upstream and rode the current back down again. They did this a couple of times. It was cute to watch and I hope they were doing it because it was fun.

Day 18

6 km

Today I walked to and from work with a detour to the dollar stores to see what St Pat’s day stuff I could find. On my way home things got interesting.  There was a big, loud helicopter hovering and then moving to a new location to hover some more. It flew right over my head. At the same time a train passed over the road and the tangle of lines on the road is now a HUGE hole in the ground. This all happened in the same little area. It made the walk home a little less ordinary.

This is now a super BIG hole!

Day 15 & 16

I am halfway through this challenge!!

Day 15 was an adventure!

8 km

It was nice and sunny but very cold due to the wind. I walked along the beach and marvelled at the strength of the waves as they crashed into shore.

Cool rock on the beach

Move your paws

Me, cold

I did not make this. I was too focussed on staying warm to play with rocks.

My walk started far beyond that corner where the condos are.

The holes are swallow nests.

The sign says “CAUTION steep bluff stay well back from edge”

Day 16

5.5 km

I somehow managed to convince the two boys to come with me. It was uncomfortably cold and windy again.

Proof they came with me.

Day 13 & 14

Both days were really long.  I worked at one job in the morning and then another in the afternoon.  I managed to get 4km in on Day 13 and 6km on Day 14.

In just two weeks the polar bears have reached their goal of 10,000 km and have set a new goal of 20,000 km.  I am really enjoying being a part of this and I hope you're enjoying following me along.

Here are some pictures from the last two days.

A new goal!

Day 11 & 12

Day 11 I ran in 3.5 km the morning and then walked to work for another 2.5 km. 6 km total

Day 12 I walked to work in the morning and then after dinner walked back into town and home again for a total of 7 km. I am tired and have two more long days ahead of me but I have the weekend to look forward to.

Day #10

 6 km this morning!

The sky was beautiful over Lake Ontario. I wandered through the Samuel Wilmot Nature Area as it lightly snowed.

Love this hidden gem found on the path.

Gnome home. The gnomes have gone for the season yet there still seems to be more added to their place every time I visit. Curious.

Day #9

The darn cat woke me up early this morning so I decided to get outside and get my kms in for the day.  I ran for 4 km and walked another 4 km. I have a goal to run my very first 10k this summer for the Canada Army Run. I am so happy that I was able to run 4km this morning without feeling tortured.  It gives me hope that I’ll be able to do the 10 km.

It was another cold morning but the beautiful sun was shining and I was dressed warmly enough that it didn’t bother me too much.

Felt a little windier than 5km/hr in some spots

Beautiful sunrise on Lake Ontario

Crazy people fishing. At least I was moving and keeping warm

This will soon be full of sailboats

Day #8

Today was another busy, long day. I completed my 5 km by walking to and from work.  Not exciting but I got it done.

Day #7

8 kms today!!!!  I walked into town this morning to have a delicious avocado eggs benny with three very lovely ladies. After our visit I walked back home and a couple hours later walked back into town again, with a longcut (opposite of shortcut), to get to work. I am so ready for bed.

I intended to take pictures, because it was a beautifully sunny day, but you couldn’t pay me enough to unzip my coat to retrieve my phone from an inner pocket(because it hates the cold) and then take my mitten off while I stopped walking in the crazy cold wind to snap a pic. There’s talk of warmer weather heading our way so I’m sure I’ll be more inclined then.

Today was windy and cold again.  Just ask anyone, it was a hot topic.

Day #6

Only managed 3 km today. I'm a little disappionted but I'm happy I was able to get a few in and I had the company of one of my sons, which I loved. Tomorrow is a new day and I have a lot of walked planned.
We have a few little libraries in our neighbourhood. We walked by one tonight.

Did You Know #15

I always thought it was seals and fish. I had no idea they ate walruses and beluga whale!

Day #5

This morning I got up early and went for a run. My first run of 2021. My goal was to run 3km and walk 2km to get the 5km done. I'm happy to say I did it but after another long and physical day I am tired. I should sleep well tonight.
A tired me at 7am this morning.

Day #4

After a long day I am proud to say I managed to drag myself out after dinner and walk a 5.5k. It was cold, windy and dark but I had book two of Virgin River to keep me company. I didn't think I'd need a scarf so I didn't bring one. I am very thankful I had a mask in my pocket. Now I'm warming up with a Tetley vanilla tea before bed.

Day #3

I took an extra long route to work and got my 5k in. It was very windy, which made it chilly, and a little bit snowy. Feels like winter isn't done with us yet. No pictures today. I was focused on getting the walk done and arriving to work on time. Tomorrow and Wednesday will be the real challenges. I will be working 9 hour physical shifts and won't be able to get the walks done until later in the day. Wish me luck!
